"One of the most famous actresses in the world heads to the Christmas-obsessed town of Homestead, Iowa, to shoot a holiday-themed movie. She is thrown for a loop when a romance brews between her and local inn keeper and single dad, Matt. As she gets a taste of small-town life, she discovers the true meaning of Christmas."
I think the proliferation of single dads in these types of movies fulfills women's fantasies of having adorable children without having to birth them, change their diapers or potty train them. Kids as accessories.
So this is the long and short of it: super-famous actress hounded by paparazzi reluctantly shoots crappy Christmas movie in podunk town. Has chemistry with local single dad who has never heard of her but is attracted for WHO SHE IS. She feels a connection to him and his annoyingly precocious daughter and decides to spend Christmas (AND THE REST OF HER LIFE?) in said shitty town.
Moment of Christmas Cheer: An exhausted, overworked film crew is given a second wind by the townsfolk who spontaneously bring them REAL–not manufactured– Christmas cheer!
Some unimportant subplots: a paparazzo falls in love with the single dad's sister. The male movie star gives up pursuing the female movie star and learns to let go.
