25 Days of Hallmark Movies: Day 2: "A Cookie Cutter Christmas" Starring Erin Krakow & David Haydn-Jones

"Two schoolteachers take their rivalry to a new level while they scramble to win a holiday baking contest and the affections of a handsome single father."

The two rival teachers are shockingly hard to distinguish from each other, and that's not because I think all white women look alike. Actually, that's not true. We have the protagonist who's a complete blank slate where everything happens to her, and we have the cartoonish, scheming teacher who's G-rated bitchiness is straight from Real Housewives of Disney World.

This particular film leans pretty heavily on the "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" music for comedic scenes. Which I realize they needed because the comedic scenes are pretty devoid of comedy.

In the movie, women are teachers. And they fawn over men. And one of their biggest goals is to bake well. But in this film's defense, this was released way back in 2014. That was another time.

Oh, did I mention the single dad runs a charity center and his sad, motherless daughter has a heart of gold, constantly thinks selflessly about others, and helps teach the protagonist teacher how to cook? Also, the dad used to be a cook and has a hidden book of family recipes that can help with the baking contest. Holy shit, this family is a PLOT DEVICE MADE IN CHRISTMAS HEAVEN!

Jesus shit, this movie made me cringe about 4 times with its rote, lazy awfulness. I watched it alone and unfortunately had no one to roll my eyes with.

Moment of Christmas Cheer: Whatshername selflessly gives whatshername an old photo of them as friends as kids.

Then she announces that she gives all her winnings to the single dad's charity.
